One of the reasons I came to Japan was to relearn to live. I wanted to rediscover the world around me so I would stop taking things for granted. So far I've been doing a lot of learning. Here's a list of things I had to learn on my first day in Japan:
how to bathe
how to open the windows
where to put my trash
how to make my bed
how to wash dishes
which side of the car to get in
how to flush the toilet
how to pretend like I know what's going on
This sounds a lot like most of my days. Day 1 I had a cold shower because I couldn`t figure out how to make the water hot after I turned it on. Isn`t it great how we pretend we know what is going on when we are lost? I do it every day.
