Okay, here are some real pictures. I'm staying with a host family named the Satos (a couple whose children have all moved away) and rooming with another intern named James. These are a few pictures of the outside of their house.

Some houses are Western style (kind of), but this house is definitely traditional Japanese.

This is the driveway. Can you see the cat? He's skinny and paranoid and I think he has a tumor on his paw.

This is a little side door that leads to their garden in the back.

Many houses in Japan (or at least the ones in Kishiwada, the city I'm in) have a wall, with a sliding gate, that surrounds the house and yard.

As you can see the “yard” is more like a little garden. I love it!
