Kiyomizudera

Kiyomizudera is the second place we went to in Kyoto. It's a Buddhist temple that means "the pure water temple." It's a group of buildings tucked into the mountain forest. Apparently no nails were used to construct these buildings (or maybe just one of the buildings, I don't know). It was beautiful! Here are a ton of photos:

Purification is a big thing in Shinto (the Japanese have no qualms about mixing the Shinto and Buddhist religions). This was pure water and the ritual is to drink a bit of the water.

I'm the white one.

Right next to the temple was a shrine. It's famous as a good love shrine.

There are a pair of stones at the shrine. Apparently if you walk from one stone to the other with your eyes closed (they were quite a ways away) then you will have a good love life or something. I tried but failed because there were to many girls in the way.

After seeing the temple we went shopping and I found a Totoro store!
